Astro's Cha Eun-woo to launch solo career this year

Cha Eun-woo will kick off his solo singing career with his first solo album, his agency Fantagio said Tuesday.

Cha’s first solo album will drop within the first half of this year, according to the agency.

Not much has been decided about the album, but he is preparing to showcase some of the B-side tracks of his solo album during his first fan concert that will be held at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa District, southern Seoul, on Feb. 17, his agency said in a press release.

Cha debuted as an actor first through a minor role in the film “My Brilliant Life” (2014) before debuting again as a K-pop singer with Astro on Feb. 23, 2016, with the EP “Spring Up.”

He played roles in hit Korean dramas, including “Gangnam Beauty” (2018), “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung” (2019) and “True Beauty” (2020-2021) and Tving series “Island” (2022).

The singer is currently starring in MBC’s TV series “A Good Day to Be a Dog” as Jin Seo-won and is set to star in the upcoming MBC series “Wonderful World.”

He also released several solo track through participating in TV series soundtracks such as "Rainbow Falling" (2018) for drama "Gangnam Beauty" and "True Beauty" soundtrack "Love so Fine."

Cha is scheduled to kick off his Asian fan concert tour “2024 Just One 10 Minute [Mystery Elevator],” starting with his Seoul concert. He will then stop at various countries, including Malaysia, Thailand and Japan.
