INFORMATION

Tomorrow X Together is a five-member boy band that debuted in 2019 under HYBE, then Big Hit Entertainment, through a special show on Mnet. The band or the agency does not abbreviate its name, but fans often write it as TXT.

The band debuted with a five-track EP, "The Dream Chapter: STAR," on the Mnet show titled "TOMORROW X TOGETHER Debut Celebration Show."

Having first pushed for a brightly-spirited boyish concept in earlier stages of their career with debut tracks "Crown" or "Run Away," the band has been leaning more to the darker side of adolescence — especially the heartbreaks and confusion that young grown-ups face as they enter adulthood.

The band's latest EP, "minisode 2: Thursday's Child," sold 1.8 million copies worldwide since its release last May, making it one of the most popular fourth-generation bands in K-pop. Fourth-generation bands are typically defined as those that debuted in the late 2010s, after the advent of audition programs that gave off fan-voted project bands such as the "Produce 101" series.

The band was given the nickname "Little Brothers of BTS" as the first band to have debuted under HYBE since BTS in 2013. The nickname is said to have given both an advantage to Tomorrow X Together with the precedent's huge namesake as well as the difficulty of overcoming the giant and forming their own legacy.

What is the meaning of Tomorrow X Together?

Tomorrow X Together, read "tomorrow by together," means that "you and I who are different come together with one dream to make tomorrow together."

The band has seen steady success from the start, sweeping numerous new artist awards or rookie artist awards at the Golden Disc Awards, Melon Music Awards, Gaon Chart Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2019.

The band is known for its lengthy, descriptive Korean song titles — for instance, the lead track for its debut EP is called "Crown" (2019) in English, but its Korean name translates to "One day, a horn grew on my head." How has been the band's reception so far?

After seeing steady growth during the first couple of years, the band saw significant success in 2023 with its fifth EP, "The Name Chapter: Temptation," which topped the Billboard 200 albums chart.

This made Tomorrow X Together the fifth K-pop band to top the albums chart after BTS first topped it in 2018, followed by SuperM in 2019 and Stray Kids and Blackpink in 2022.

"The Name Chapter: Temptation" sold 161,500 copies of its album in the United States since its release on Jan. 27, according to Billboard. The band achieved the feat almost four years after its debut in March 2019.

Is Tomorrow X Together Japanese?

No. In fact, none of the members are. Four members — Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu and Taehyun — are Korean, and Huening Kai is an American born to an American father and Korean mother. The group has released Japanese albums: three singles, one EP and one full-length album.
