INFORMATION

(G)I-DLE debuted in May 2018 with the EP “I Am” under Cube Entertainment.

It currently consists of five: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, Shuhua. Soyeon serves as the group’s leader and producer. Soojin, part of the debut lineup, left the group in August 2021 following allegations of school bullying. In 2019, the group starred on Mnet’s competition show “Queendom,” which saw six high-profile girl K-pop acts compete against each other. The girl group’s fandom is dubbed Neverland.

Who are the international members of (G)I-DLE?

Minnie is Thai, Yuqi is from mainland China, and Shuhua is from Taiwan. Minnie is known to come from a wealthy Thai family of Chinese descent.

Why did Soojin leave (G)I-DLE?

Soojin came under fire in February 2021 when accusations that she bullied her classmates in middle school, verbally and physically, emerged. Soojin initially denied the allegations, but as more witnesses and survivors came forward, including actor Seo Shin-ae who attended the same school as the singer, Soojin suspended her activities in March 2021.

She eventually left the group in August 2021. In March 2022, Cube Entertainment announced the termination of its contract with Soojin.
