Girl group Fifty Fifty debuted in November 2022 as the first girl group from Attrakt, a sublabel of StarCrew.
While the fourth generation of K-pop — which refers to an era since and after the Covid-19 pandemic — has been said to be dominated by girl groups, Fifty Fifty skyrocketed as a strong contender within just months of debut by becoming the fastest K-pop group to land on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in March.
Just four months into its debut, the band became the fifth K-pop girl group to ever land on the chart, after Wonder Girls, Twice, Blackpink and NewJeans, with its track "Cupid" landing in the 100th place on the singles chart for the week of April 1.
"Cupid" previously ranked No. 1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart on March 11, followed by 106th on Billboard Global 200, 12th on Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 and 20th place on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart last week.
The group's name comes from the English expression fifty-fifty, meaning that the band is a mixture of reality and ideality and that the band is half and the fans are the other, and they must come together to create a whole.
